What we do

We support local projects that reduce carbon emissions, improve the energy efficiency of community buildings, restore nature or increase biodiversity. We also fund projects in areas such as sustainable food production/farming, low carbon transport and education programmes that increase awareness of sustainability and environmental issues.

So far, Sustainable Charlbury has awarded more than 60 grants worth nearly £320,000 to support local community projects in West Oxfordshire. The association with Southhill Solar gives us an income of around £30,000 a year to put into new grants, although in the last couple of years the healthy state of the solar farm’s finances has enabled more money to be made available. SusCha trustees approved £170,000 of new grants over the 18 months to June 2026.
