Contribution to the purchase of polytunnels for all season vegetable production.

Contribution to a project for carbon mapping 3 significant green spaces and 1 regeneratively farmed agriculture site close to Charlbury.  The survey measured the balance between carbon sequestration and emissions at The Mill Field, Southill Solar, Wigwell Nature Reserve and FarmEd.  The money was spent on analysis of soil samples.

2025

Training in community based floodplain meadow restoration and plant proporgation + propagation of more than 600 meadow plants for planting on The Mill Field, Charlbury.

Support for Little Wild Things programme of ‘Play in Nature’ sessions for primary schools.

Extraction and replacement of cavity wall insulation to make the school building more comfortable, hold heat better and reduce energy costs.

Match funding of parent’s contributions to weekly Wild Things sessions for children at a woodland site.  Due to budget cuts, the school was no longer able to provide funding for this established programme of multiple activities to increase children’s nature awareness.  Parents now pay a weekly amount.  SusCha has agreed to pay a sum equal to half the parents’ contributions for 3 years so that the programme remains viable.  The funding is channelled through the school.

Grant to pay for the installation of a second speed indicator device in Fawler. This means the main road running through the village will have speed indicators at both ends.  It contributes to the safety of residents and toads.  Every year residents batte to save toads crossing the road during an annual migration.  It is hoped that a reduction in traffic speeds due to the second speed indicator will help reduce the number of toad deaths.

Inspriring environmental responsibility.  The award contributes to funding multiple activities to increase children’s awareness of environmental ssues.  The aim is to progress the school’s application for Green Flag status.

A contribution to Charlbury Youth Ambassador Steering Group towards the cost of a youth-led event entitled the ‘Tree Hugging Festival’, a celebration of nature in Charlbury.
