Thermal Imaging

Sustainable Charlbury Thermal Imaging Project

We have completed  a programme of thermal imaging of local properties, using a Flir infra red camera provided by West Oxfordshire District Council.

A possible solution to issues raised by the thermography is a subsidised £99 insulation offer from Cocoon Your Home – please follow the link to obtain details of this offer.

Why use a Thermal Imaging Camera? (notes from ALLISTER PIRRIE , Metrum)

  • ‘A picture speaks a thousand words’
  • Quickly identify specific areas of urgency
  • Identify secondary problems that could be missed
  • Report to the customer and insurer to prove that the work is complete
  • Supports additional work undertaken
  • SAVES TIME & MONEY !!

What is involved

The Building thermography surveys we will offer are qualitative rather than quantitative. We are seeking comparative areas of the exterior of a building that exhibits different characteristics under the same conditions, as a means of identification and highlighting areas that require further investigation, remedial attention, or indeed, confirming that a previous fault has been rectified.

What might the imaging reveal?

Common types of faults that could be revealed are:

  • Thermal bridges
  • Air leaks
  • Insulation deficiencies.

A Free Service – but donations welcome!

We are providing the thermography of properties as a free service. The information that you will receive may highlight issues with the insulation of your building that may not be visible to the naked eye. Indeed, this information may indeed be very valuable, as it could provide the means for you to save a lot of money!

The project will require a significant degree of coordination, preparation and work by our group. Therefore, if you can afford it, we would like to encourage donations to make the most of this opportunity for Charlbury!

  1. We’ve moved into Charlbury and are planning to improve our home at 16 Sandford Park. I only just realised there’s a thermal imaging camera available – could we take advantage of this to see where we should be planning our work?
