There are many ways you can commit to living a lower carbon lifestyle.
- CRAGs (Carbon Rationing Action Groups). These are a growing network of local grassroots action groups dedicated to lowering their own carbon footprints and those of their communities. CRAGs aim to trial the possible new strategys of national or international carbon rationing by setting themselves a carbon allowance which reduces year on year. At the end of the year, you meet up to see how you’ve done and a small carbon ‘tax’ is paid by those who exceeded their allowance to those who reduced by more than the target. CRAGs provide an opportunity to experiment with low-carbon living and to share practical knowedge and experience. The local group has 10 members so far so feel free to contact them on the link above if you are interested.
- The Guardian ‘Tread Lightly’ Campaign. Each week, you make an acheivable pledge which will cut your carbon emissions. You then report back at the end of the week to say how you’ve done and get a report explaining how much carbon you have saved that week. It’s a free service and becoming very popular. Take the pledge today!
