Reduce your impact on the planet is a two-way street. It’s about you, your family, your neighbour, your street, the pubs, the school, local businesses, the churches – and climate change. It’s about getting excited and creative about what we can do to reduce carbon emissions and make change happen. Let’s discover what a low carbon lifestyle looks and feels like. How do we all contribute to climate change? What can we do? How low can we go?

We meet on the first Monday of every month, 8pm at the Bell Hotel. Also see the list of events and activities happening here in Charlbury. You can also sign up to our emailing list to receive updates on what’s going on locally.

We work very closely with Charlbury Area Waste Action Group.

Switch to Green Energy UK for your renewable electricity and to the Phone Coop for an ethical telecommunications provider. You will receive a discount for switching through Sustainable Charlbury, and we get a small income for recommending you. Thank you!

Sustainable Charlbury is currently supported by Charlbury Beer Festival, Charlbury Town Council and Artists Project Earth.SusCha was formed in October 2006 as a local response to the growing threat of climate change. The big question was how individuals within our community could take positive steps to lower their CO2 emissions. The threat posed by climate change is severe and well documented (see our links page), and the effects of the changing climate have already been felt first hand in Charlbury during the terrible flooding in the summer. It is clear that it is up to each of us to make the changes necessary to curb our impact on the planet, but how do we go about it?

The purpose of SusCha is:

  • to enable and assist groups and individuals to make changes

  • to offer support and practical advice

  • to organise events and meetings

  • to provide a forum for active discussion.

This is a community group, everyone can have their say, and the more people who join in, the more SusCha will develop into a positive, empowering network in a community that cares about the planet and wants to be part of the solution.
